Hi, my name is Martijn Thie.
I work as a Senior Architect at a large Phone Company in Holland. It's a great job as I can play around with my idea's and explore new possibilities. Over time I have specialized a bit in Email platforms, Security and Online Applications. And because it's a big company with many many clients, and thus high-volume platforms, you might say high-volume platforms are also a specialty. There is a twist though, most of my knowledge is based on Microsoft platforms.
Starting out as a software developer in 1997 and growing via software designer to architect, I think I have quite a solid base of knowledge throughout the complete development cycle. I have coding experience in Assembly, C++, Java, C#, VB and some script languages and still code for fun. In my opinion you have to have fun in building software and do so regularly to be able to keep up with new technical findings and to really understand the techniques involved in the IT. If you have fun, you are driven to find the best solutions and are always on the lookout for improvements.
Over time there were many problems that I've solved. As well in coding as designing as in architecture. But as time goes on, many specific solutions are used and forgotten. While other solutions may have become common-knowledge to myself, which is preventing me from seeing that some of you might still be interested in them. So, all together I thought it might be a good time to start a blog. Just to write down the the problems and solutions I find during my fun-coding projects.
